NPR has a sweet, if slightly sad story about reporter David Kestenbaum’s interaction with a neighbor via her shared iTunes library. The neighbor was “borrowing” his wireless internet connection and one night he noticed her shared iTunes library while listening to his music. He then noticed that their libraries were strangely similar.
I don’t want to ruin it, so I’ll let you enjoy the story on your own. I do want to mention that posting this story brought up an interesting dilemma. NPR makes all of the stories from their news shows available via Real Player or Windows Media Player. Assuming that only diehard online listeners to NPR would even have Real Player installed, I realized that most of you would casually read this and move on without listening to the story.
So I did what I assume to be an illegal favor for you by hijacking the audio and making it available here (7m 19s, 3.4MB) to listen to as an mp3. Aren’t I a nice guy? Enjoy it before I get the cease and desist letter from NPR’s legal department.
